We are excited to announce our 7th Annual Education Support Professional (ESP) Conference to be held Friday, February 2 and Saturday, February 3, 2007, at the NEA-NM Headquarters in Santa Fe. Print the registration form, make as many copies as you need, and mail them to us by January 5, 2007.

  •  Any locals other than targeted locals that wish to send participants are welcome to attend. Contact Edie Brycelea at ebrycelea@nea.org or 1-800-432-2017, ext. 2860 or Pat Chavez at pchavez@nea.org or 1-800-432-2017, ext. 2854 to discuss availability.
  • Please review the targeted locals tier table on the registration form listing the five tiers indicating the number of participants allocated for each local; the list has changed from last year.
  • In the past some targeted locals from the respective tiers have not filled their allocations.  Therefore, this is one of the reasons we are setting the registration deadline as January 5 to allow other locals from Tiers 2-5 to call us immediately after this deadline to check availability so they can send participant(s) to the conference.
  • The deadline for registering is January 5, 2007; the registration form and fees must be received in our office to be officially registered.
  • We have made hotel accommodations at the Camel Rock Suites, (3007 St. Francis Drive South - Santa Fe) for Friday, February 2 and Saturday, February 3, 2007.  Continental breakfast at the hotel is available both days.  All rooms are double occupancy. The registration form has a place for participants to list a preferred roommate. If a member requests single occupancy, half of the room cost must be paid by the person making this request at time of check in at the hotel.
  • The conference will commence immediately at 1:00 p.m. on Friday continuing with an afternoon and evening session/social.
  • On Saturday, the sessions will begin by going to the legislature and then returning to headquarters for lunch and attendance of the afternoon session to conclude by 6:30 p.m.
  • A dinner reception with guest speaker will be provided either on Friday or Saturday as we have not finalized the agenda yet and are waiting to hear from the guest speaker(s) we have invited.
  • At past ESP conferences there have been numerous members that register, but do not attend the conference and NEA-NM expends members’ dues dollars for reserved hotel reservations and food that has been ordered. Please note the signature line on the reverse side of the registration and room list form whereby each local President or Designee agrees to be responsible for a $100 fee for any “no show” participant to  defray expenses for lodging reservations and food.  January 22, 2007, has been set as the deadline for you to let us know if any of your participants that register will not be able to attend the conference.
  • NEA-NM will reimburse each local at the rate of $0.20 cents per mile for one (1) car (Tier 1: eligible for two cars when ten (10) participants attend as allocated). Please indicate designated driver(s) on  registration form.
  • We encourage all locals to identify new attendees to the conference. We have scheduled general meetings, sessions for first-time attendees, veteran attendees, and mini breakout sessions by ESP job categories.
  • The ESP Committee is currently working with Santa Fe Community College to obtain one (1) college credit at the upcoming conference for participants that wish to receive college credit

Thank you for your continued support and commitment with the NEA-NM ESP membership. We look forward to hearing from all of you and if you have any questions, please contact Edie Brycelea at ebrycelea@nea.org or 1-800-432-2017, ext. 2860 or Pat Chavez at pchavez@nea.org or 1-800-432-2017, 2854.
