Lucy Romo Torres on May 28, 2011

Lucy was a proud member and effective leader of NEA-Bernalillo where she taught for many years. She served as President of NEA-Bernalillo and was instrumental in winning collective bargaining rights for her local in the early 1990s. We extend our deepest condolences to her husband of 56 years, Anastacio, and the rest of her family.


James D. "Jim" Stewart Passed on February 27, 2011

Jim taught in Artesia, New Mexico for one year and in Hobbs, New Mexico for thirty years. He served as the President of the New Mexico Classroom Teachers Association; President of the New Mexico Educators Association; and was a member of the Board of Directors of the National Education Association. Bobbie Davis Passed December 7, 2010

NEA-NM lost a tireless advocate and a true friend on 12/7/10 when Bobbie Davis passed away in Roswell. Bobbie was serving as President of NEA-NM Retired at the time of her death and had been a lifelong leader in the Roswell Education Association, the Southeast Region, and NEA-New Mexico. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her husband and our colleague, Jack Davis, and the entire Davis family.

'Chairman’ Fred Luna dies October 13, 2010

After 79 years of life and love for his family, the 36-year veteran of the New Mexico Legislature died due to respiratory complications in an Albuquerque hospital on Wednesday, Oct. 13. He was surrounded by his family and wife of 60 years, Consuelo Vallejos Luna.


Henry C. Jimenez Jr. died Sept. 2, 2010

Henry C Jimenez Jr was Greg Maxie’s VP in Hobbs and attended Delegate Council last year. He died after a traffic accident. The local is setting up a scholarship fund more information to come. Here is the Contact information for his wife if you would like to send your condolences.
