"Reading is Magic"

Sharon and Veronica Dr. Veronica Garcia, Secretary of Education, is the NEA-NM Read Across America honorary chair for 2008. She is shown here with NEA-NM President Sharon Morgan as they planned a special event at Ceasar Chavez Elementary School for Read Across America on March 3rd. NEA-NM’s Read Across America program was also the recipient of $1,000, the proceeds of a silent auction in late December held at POP Gallery in Santa Fe. It will go a long way in terms of promoting literacy during the upcoming year.

The Cat in the Hat is again available for use!

As we have done in the past, NEA-NM will ship the Cat to you for use by your local. You will be responsible for returning the Cat back to NEA-NM with your local picking up the return shipping expense. If you can work with other locals in your region to schedule around the same time, it would be even easier to get the Cat from place to place.

If you are interested in receiving the schedule, contact: Elizabeth Martinez, NEA-NM at (800) 432-2017 or emartinez@nea.org.
